How Do I Manage Beverages for My Party?
Monday, April 24, 2017
After you have selected the perfect venue for your event, you’ll need to see what services they include or allow you to handle on your own. One of the largest undertakings will likely be beverages, and they can consume a large portion of your budget.
The Venue Supplies the Beverages with My Rental Fee
If your venue rental fee also covers your beverages (including alcohol), there is a good possibility that they can offer a cash bar for the alcohol portion of your bar service. This gives you the ability to offer the options of a full open bar without paying the hefty price associated with one. Or, maybe you include beer and wine in your package at your expense but only offer liquor on a cash basis.
Be sure to speak with your rental manager in further detail about these options as the hall must have specific alcohol licensing with the state.
I'm on My Own with the Beverages. I Can Do Whatever I Want.
Assuming you have selected a venue that allows you to handle your own beverages, you have a few options. You can supply everything on your own and hire your own bartender. This means you’ll need to supply cups, ice, mixers, corkscrews, garnishes, etc.
With Cincinnati Catering, you can lighten the load and keep your budget in check by hiring us to supply a non-alcoholic beverage package along with cups and ice. Then, you can supply whatever alcohol you like and have our bartender serve everything. Our catering consultant can give you advice on how much alcohol to supply based on your circumstances.
The last option is to have your caterer provide everything. This could be some combination of soda, coffee, water, beer, wine, and/or liquor along with cups, ice, coolers, mixers, etc. Obviously, this option requires the least amount of work for the client, but it also carries a higher price tag.
Overall, it is really just a matter of how much time and effort you want to spend dealing with the beverages.
If you do choose to hire your caterer to help with beverage services, make sure they carry professional liability insurance for protection.
